Eau de Parfum vs Parfum
See our minimalist explanation below for a basic understanding.
Eau de Cologne
Eau de Cologne carries 4-6% fragrance oil. This is one of the lightest scents. It could be compared to an aftershave but that does not make it a mens’-only scent.
Eau de Cologne is suited for days you want a light mist of fragrance. The staying power would not be as long as other scents.
Eau de Toilette
7-10% of Eau de Toilette (EDT) comprises of fragrance oil. These are great if you’re going to be in close proximity to other people and don’t want to overpower the small area with your scent.
Eau de Toilette’s staying power would outlast that of Eau de Cologne but not Eau de Parfum.
Eau de Parfume
Eau de Parfume (EDP) carries 10-20% fragrance oil. This is the second strongest of all scents.
This is the most general fragrance version you’ll find out there.
